Our History
Our Founder
In a desire to help local children in need, Nonie Fairchild created The Birthday Joy Program in 2016. She started the organization using her personal resources and home address. Little did she know that her idea would turn into a community effort. For over four years Nonie served as the Program Director, leading a crew of volunteers in reaching the needs of birthday children all throughout the Houston area. Nonie led the organization as a volunteer herself.
In July 2020, Nonie announced her retirement as Program Director as she would be moving to Iowa to be closer to family.
Our Leadership
The Birthday Joy Program is led by Executive Director Kim Jackson. Kim has been a volunteer with The Birthday Joy Program for five years and is passionate about making sure children in our area are celebrated. After serving two terms on the Board of Directors, Kim was asked to step in as the Executive Director of the program in 2023.
Kim is a wife, mother, full-time school counselor, part-time therapist and advocate for mental health. She is winner of the the 2022 Athena Leadership Award from the League City Chamber of Commerce for her leadership of The Birthday Joy Program.
Our Organization
The Birthday Joy Program is a 100% volunteer run organization. It truly is a community taking care of it's community.
